I found a beautiful set of Pau Ferro that was salavaged from an old luthier’s shop for the back and sides, and a set of bearclaw Sitka for the top that came from a salvaged wind-toppled tree in Alaska. This top creates incredibly bright and punchy sound, and with the bearclaw, it looks great. I made a successful modification to bring the fingerboard closer to the strings above the 12th fret, so this instrument plays exceptionally well up high, and, of course, sounds as good as ever.
