Guitar No. 5 (aka, The Zebra)
Materials:
This guitar was intended to be my first instrument to be sold to the public in support of my goal to donate proceeds to music programs in schools that serve predominantly people of color.
Style: OM
Soundboard: 100+ year old sitka spruce salvaged from old luthier supply stock
Back/Sides: Indian Rosewood salvaged from old luthier supply stock
Neck: Honduran Mahogany obtained from Colorado School of Lutherie stock.
Headstock Veneer: Indian Rosewood with Flame Maple accent stripe
Fingerboard: African Ebony
Bridge: Indian Ebony
Rosette: Zebra Wood
Bindings: Flame Maple
End Wedge and Heel Cap: Blue stain pine!
Heel Cap: Indian Rosewood
As my first publicly sold guitar, I had high hopes of building the perfect instrument. Alas, my skills have not yet equaled my hopes, as this guitar wound up with several minor cosmetic flaws that affect appearance but not play-ability or sound.
